About this project

Schemes and structural design for the new EDS Standard 3 Pilot project was undertaken. This appointment required the production of a scheme to allow large heavy 3 D scanners (approximately 8.5 tonnes and 6m long X 2.5m wide) to be towed into the baggage handling hall on a purpose built raft then lifted approximately 4m onto a long span deck frame. Height and load restrictions within the area were challenging. The installation was required to be demountable to allow regular replacement of the machinery, the type and manufacture of which would be variable. All works involved lifting over live equipment. Services included design and supervision of testing of lifting equipment.
